CHRYSANTHEMIUM EP
12 Inch
30.05.07
chrysanthemum ep is the first new recording from kelley polar since his hugely successful debut album released in 2005, love songs of the hanging gardens. the seeds of chrysanthemum are described by mr. polar himself as a confluence of the apocalyptic fear that permeated all cold war childhoods, comic book illustrations of blood and violence abstracted into flora and a b grade science fiction novels portraying two teens in the final throes of lovemaking as the world is destroyed in nuclear apocalypse. yet despite this decidedly dark and unique approach, the song is nevertheless pure pop catchy and indelible once heard. rosenband is lighter in subject matter yet just as deep musically, filled with synthetic layers and rhythms that reveal themselves slowly on subsequent listens. despite the immediacy of the melodies, there is a detail that permeates all of kelley polars work and rewards the attentive listener. a completely reworked instrumental version of rosenband is stretched across the b side and is dare we say it a dancefloor killer, with a long, mix friendly intro building to an incredible crescendo. the track is arranged and mixed by morgan geist and was done so with djs in mind!
SLOW CITY LIFE EP
12 Inch
08.05.07
with >slow potion<, asli takes the cold barren landscape of iceland, marries it with the deep soul of new york (think ibadan or objektivity) and then throws in a hint of banging german minimalism (think kompakt vs mobilee). and what comes out is truly a dancefloor masterpiece - beautiful and at the same time a full ‘hands in the air peaktime banger. classical strings joined by electronic beats and a throbbing bassline. on the flip side with >east city life<, he takes it even deeper. minimal yet groovy, asli builds us a perfect track for the late night
FRESH FISH 4

02.05.07
tensnake remix reverie of spring-like chords melts the atmosphere of a cold dark room in successive thrusts crackles into a light shining in carefree abandon. in the original mix of “oscuro claro” the laden groove - lightfootedly noisy - rolls staccato into furious compulsive sounds, majestically muted into a thought that - spoken after a short hesitation - moves the action away turning it into mere play

amazing, cold and mysterious science-sounds is probably the first words to come, when listening to this new piece of art from the dark caves of scandinavia. the consumer has returned with the 3rd ep which is again slightly different from past productions. your soul for access and financial advisory. drawing parallels to both the world of dopplereffekt and arpanet it still manages to be very different and the consumer has quite well establish his/her/their own sound based on different emotional feelings, techniques and creativity according to the use of analogue and digital expressions. perfect

HISTORICAL ARCHIVES VOLUME 4 -GONNA MAKE IT NOW
12 Inch
31.01.07
the 4th installment maybe the hottest one yet! hard to top such previous quality but when there is a will there is a way. >gonna make it now< is a super-rare disco joint only released on a white label in the 70s and played by chicago s superstar dj ron hardy. re-edited and released here for your dancing pleasure. on the flip is some classic last poets agitprop >niggers are scared of revolution but niggers shouldn t be scared of revolution because revolution is nothing but change, and all niggers do is change. niggers come in from work and change into pimping clothes to hit the street and make some quick change<. a stone cold killer

this dry, cold-processed stomper from jack rock shoots like a rocket out of nowhere. with a bass drum that reminds of stakes installed in the swampland and a mysterious melody, he once again presents himself as the connoisseur of delicate club dramaturgy and jack really knows how to conquer the hearts of both, the dj and the crowd.his stumbling funk finds its equivalence in dandy jack s staccato rush whose congenial remix shows a higher concentration, but is still full of catchiness and deepness driven by a real conviction. this must-have ep offers a really wonderful ground contact and represents the continuation of a unique label policy: young, but characterised by deep wisdom, knowledge that can only be found in the dark labyrinths of the club where we love to get lost over and over again...played by john acquaviva, dinky, toni rios
STUCK IN TIME (2LP)
2x12 Inch
26.01.07
stuck in time is a personal statement on a particular time and of particular experiences in my life. the sounds codebase choses to use on this album point towards an alternate universe of where music may have gone instead of where it is now, fusing analog disco bass and electric piano sounds reminiscent of the 1970s with sampled electronic percussion sounds of today. this juxtaposition crystallizes the temporally frozen sonic landscape of the album a musical fossil from somewhere outside the linear progression of time
THE ERASER (SLOW TO SPEAK)
12 Inch
18.01.07
thom yorke is the pen, voice and soul of the rock group radiohead he has just released a solo album the eraser and that is where this story begins. abandoning his guitar get-along gang for the cold warmth of his computer and underhyping an album that should be plastering the walls and buses of your local city, the anxiety ridden and morose yorke cuts to the core of the dark state of humanity, unapologetically commenting on the zombies that were once humans. on this extremely limited 12,the album title track the eraser( already big with timmy regisford ) gets remixed in a distorted detroit style by slow to speak, following up on the recent bjork, u2 & arc gospel choir reworkings. on the flip is various acapellas of thom speaking on the current state of society and commerce and the radiohead song climbing up the walls, which in some strange dysfunctional way is married lyrically to the eraser. comes in a hand made silk screened jacket

photocall is the la based team of eli epstein and terryn westbrook. their silver clouds is allready very sought after. the original version is an ice cold electro track with egyptian lover style beats and a funking minimal bassline that really makes you move your ass. the track really kicks of with an additional synth line, the vocals of terryn and a bleepy melodie which has somehow the same ,its all good vibe, as space invaders are smoking grass

THE PATH OF MOST RESISTORS (2LP)
2x12 Inch
13.11.06
better known as volum and as one half of angry robots volsoc (his musical partnership with justin maxwell), jean-paul bondys output to date has often been categorised as electro, but not as we know it, jim. since the early 90s bondy has been bringing us his vision of a cartoon future of blips, bleeps, squeaks and tweaks, all fed through your speakers and straight into your brain by a rhythmic salvo of breakbeats, bass, and straight-up, glitched-up funk.. bondys first solo album, >the path of most resistors< marks the culmination of this effort to date, while at the same time representing a subtle departure – not just for bondy, but for compost too. make no mistake, this is a record that is grounded in the kind of solid, machine funk grooves, synthetic melodies and sci-fi atmospheres that the best electro has always brought us

DONT STOP THE MUSIC
12 Inch
10.10.06
bugz in the attic release the second single from the inspired debut album back in the dog house,a live favourite and deftly handled cover of yarborough and peoples 1980 bassline heavy dont stop the music. bugz, pioneers of deep and dirty dance music, brought a brimming confidence along with the experimentation of their debut, which glistens with stone cold funk, boogie and disco but remains resolutely contemporary thanks to their immersion in club culture and the broad pool of guest vocal talents at their disposal. for dont stop the music former basement jaxx collaborator sharlene hector was given the task of re doing a bugz favourite, and the result is an out and out west london bruk up twist that takes the basslines from p funk, the soul of the original and a certain pirate radio grit and delivers the very essence of bugz.
